The WIND Toolkit Download window allows you to download a weather file with wind resource data for locations covered by the NREL WIND Toolkit. See Wind Resource for a description of the toolkit.

To download a weather file from the NREL WIND Toolkit:

1.Choose the Street address or zip code or Location coordinates (deg) option and type a latitude and longitude, street address, or zip code for the wind turbine or wind farm location.

2.Choose a time step in minutes. Available time steps are 5,  15, 30, and 60 minutes.

3.Choose a year.

4.Choose one or more measurement heights above the ground.

5.Click OK to download the file to the folder in the path for the Use a wind resource file stored on your computer option on the Wind Resource page..

Note. Downloads with multiple measurement heights and/or shorter time steps may take a long time to download. To minimize download times, choose two or three measurement heights near the turbine hub height you plan to model.
